Farnese hazelnuts and chestnuts
The excursion
Guided tour of Caprarola, a village built on a spur more than five hundred meters above sea level, which has a peculiar urban structure based on a road system oriented along the axis of the ancient “Via Dritta”, the main Via Cittadina, culminating in the square in front of the splendid Palazzo Farnese, majestic residence of the family of the same name whose construction, designed by Antonio da Sangallo, was entrusted to Vignola starting from the third decade of the sixteenth century.
Next, we will visit a farm surrounded by almost 30 hectares of chestnut and hazelnut trees, on the slopes of Monte Venere and overlooking Lake Vico below, which offers visitors a natural setting of rare beauty.
Keeping alive the family dedication to the land, the owners have dedicated themselves to the confectionery transformation of the company's products, giving life to a range of delights, which we will taste, such as the chestnut cream, the natural candied chestnuts and the Nellina, a hazelnut cream that is now a cult for lovers of good spreadable chocolate.
At the end, lunch awaits us in a restaurant!
