Ruspoli Castle Vignanello
The excursion
Vignanello, a village with ancient origins located in the hilly area east of the Cimini mountains, among chestnut groves and vast hazelnut groves.
The historic centre, located on a tuff bank, is characterised by the majestic Baronial Castle (or Ruspoli Palace), built on a pre-existing Benedictine structure around 1280, whose radical renovation was carried out by the first Count of Vignanello Sforza-Marescotto, in the mid-sixteenth century, according to the designs of Antonio da Sangallo the Younger, while the design of the external spaces is attributed to Vignola.
